There are two things we can never get enough of staring at: the starry sky and the shimmering sea.
Starry skies are best appreciated in real time, ideally lying on the beach, listening to the crashing waves. But the sea? You can enjoy it early in the morning, at midday when the sun is at its hottest and so glaring it almost blinds you, or at sunset, when the glistening transforms into every shade of orange, red and pink.
And yet, it doesn’t lose its magic even through a photograph or a video. That’s why photographers have glorified it, writers have praised it, and the rest of us simply adore it.
How to Spend it (“it” meaning your day)
Life by the sea should be unfussy and simple. No fancy restaurants, just lunch, by the water wearing nothing more than your bathing suit and a sarong (at most).
That said, there are a few activities to help you spend your day somewhat productively, rather than entirely at leisure.

Captured in the Golden Age of Summer
Staying on the beach until the streetlights come on. Vivid colours. Wet hair. Glossy lips. High cut swimsuits. Sun-kissed skin that somehow never burns. Glamour. Oversized sunglasses. The kind of smiles that never seem to sweat. Somewhere between an '80s swimsuit editorial and a scene from a VHS you wish you could step into.
What Awaits After
The best part of summer isn't always the beach. Sometimes it's the house waiting for you afterwards. Forget white-washed walls and rattan furniture.
Instead, imagine leather sofas big enough for everyone to disappear into. Floor-to-ceiling windows framing the sea like a painting
Lamps instead of overhead lights. Roxy Music playing quietly somewhere in the background.
The kind of living room that makes you stay up talking long after the swimsuits have dried.
Happy swimming!
